Tsiknopempti

The Carnival, apart from the colorful disguises and costumes, is a Christian tradition tied with the Lent and fasting i.e. it is the last great feast before fasting for 7 weeks before Easter! Carnival lasts 3 weeks during which Christians indulge in all those pleasures that they are expected to abstain from during the Lent - a farewell to all those guilty pleasures!

During this period, all over the world, there is one day that is dedicated to eating copious amounts of meat or other high-caloric delicacies! Whether you call it Fat Thursday, Fat Tuesday, Maslenitsa, Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday or Tsiknopempti and whether you are planning to fast afterwards or not it is a feast not to be missed!
